Shooting Arrows

We all got stuff to deal with on a daily basis.

All of us face issues, troubles, dilemmas, problems, things we need help working through. From small stuff like getting up early, making it through traffic to get to work on time, getting the kids off to school, to the bigger issues such as paying the bills, health situations, unemployment, addiction and much more. Too often we try to deal with everything on our own. We figure we got this. We’ll get through it. We’ll find a way. We don’t need any help. We’re good.

When David needed help, he asked God to intervene in a mighty way. He pleaded with God in Psalm 144:6 to “send lightning to scatter the enemy, to shoot arrows and scare them away.” David is pretty brazen here. We may wonder what gives him the audacity to think that God cares so much about his troubles that He’s going to go out of his way to take care of David’s problems. But the truth is God cares about every aspect of our lives. There's nothing too little, nothing too big that he can't handle. Jesus says in Luke 12:47 that “the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”

So when we face all the stuff we have to deal with, we don’t have to do it alone. We need to be more like David and have faith to be bold enough to ask the Lord to intervene and provide help.

We talk about this and more in our episode featuring Los Angeles Rams receiver Brandin Cooks.
