Russell Wilson Has a Goal of Living by Forgiveness and Love

Russell Wilson has a goal of living by forgiveness and love, knowing that is how Jesus Himself lived.

By Faith on the Field Staff, November 21, 2021

Russell Wilson is a seven-time Pro Bowler, a Super Bowl champion, and a strong man of faith. He has played the entirety of his career with the Seattle Seahawks, throwing for over 35,000 yards, and amassing over 100 wins.

In week 5 of the 2021 season, Wilson suffered a broken finger, forcing surgery and ending his streak of 149 consecutive games. But the challenge helped him grow in some key areas of life.

“You have to be able to have patience, but at the same time when having patience, you have to have trials, and I think that’s a really critical part. You also have to have unrelenting confidence.”

Confidence as a pro-athlete is important, but ultimately as believers are faith is not in what we can see, but in what can’t be seen.  Wilson believes that as believers in Jesus, we need to love like him and show exemplary love.

“I think that it's so important in this world that I forgive, (and) in our Christian faith we’re called to love. We’re called to love and forgive. I think that God has given me to the ability to do what I do, and to whom much is given much is required.”

“In our relationships we should be exuding love, in all socio-economic statues and communities and races. That’s how Jesus came to this earth. He loved us and cared for us and sacrificed for us, so I think it’s important for me to be able to do that too, to demonstrate that in some form or fashion every day.”
