RG3 Believes God Guides Your Steps as You're Moving Your Feet

Robert Griffin III knows God will guide, but you've got to do your part.

By Faith on the Field Staff, December 2, 2021

Robert Griffin III played nine seasons in the NFL with Washington Cleveland and Baltimore. He was the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2012. But that season, late in the year, Griffin suffered knee injuries: he tore his ACL in a playoff, and he already had a torn LCL. Unfortunately, he never got back to his Pro Bowl form. Griffin (commonly referred to as ‘RG3’) is currently an ESPN college football analyst. He's only 31 and he could return to the NFL at any time.

As a former NFL star and now college football analyst, RG3 knows the importance of taking each day in stride and focusing on the right things. He also knows that first and foremost he is a believer, a Christian, a follower of Jesus.  But as Griffin told Rob Maaddi, being a Christian is not about perfection.

“I am a believer...I know I'm not perfect. I haven't been perfect my entire life. I’ve made mistakes, but I think God understands that and that's about a relationship with God; to be able to confess your sins and move forward.”

Griffin knows that it’s not about him twisting people’s arms to believe, it’s more about him living out his faith in real life scenarios.

“So, for me, when I talk about my faith, I try to live in a way that exudes that faith. I'm not trying to pressure anybody. You know, I'm not trying to say, ‘Hey, you have to do it this way.’ I'm just trying to be a beacon in the light by the way that I live and by the way that I talk and go about my life.”

God has definitely used Griffin and given him an incredible platform. But Griffin believes that in order for God to use you, you have to be willing to go.

“You got to move your feet, right? You can't say ‘I want to do this’ and then you're not willing to go work for that. I think I sometimes people get it confused. They think if I just trying enough, if I just have enough faith, It'll work.”

“As you know, faith without works is nothing, you have to work. You have to put the work in and make sure that you're doing your part.”
