Rahmel Dockery knows what it is like to experience the ups and downs of sports. Dockery placed NCAA football with Oregon but did not get a chance to play in the NFL. Where some people might find that devastating and hard to recover from, Dockery pivoted and saw God’s hand at work.

In our episode ‘A Different Path’, Rahmel Dockery sat down with Rob Maaddi to discuss how his faith allowed him to persevere.

“My faith is everything to me. I truly believe you know, if you pray for something, you're going to be tested. Everything happens for a reason. I thank God for the negatives and positives, I think, for everything. And honestly, all the negative things that happen are just a test for God to see how bad you want it."

Dockery was immersed in football his whole life. But then it seemed God was taking him in a different direction. It was then that Rahmel had to choose if he was going to trust his faith or his feelings.

“My whole life, all I knew was football. I felt like that was going to take care of my family. That was the way out for me. And it was so hard holding on to that when I saw no light at the end of the tunnel. I stopped loving the game. But you know, I also never lost my faith during that time.“

During one of his lowest moments, Dockery reach out to God, and God answered in a way he didn’t imagine.

“I remember at my lowest, I prayed to God, ‘If you can bless me with one more opportunity to make it to the NFL, and also a platform where I can spread my word in my testimony to millions of fans.’ (The next month) the Seahawks called me, and my YouTube channel blew up and now I have a platform, like, I literally have what I asked for.”
