Raheem Mostert is a running back with the Miami Dolphins, where this season he is rushing for 543 yards and has three touchdowns. He's in his eighth season in the NFL. He had a breakout year with the 49ers in 2019 when they went to the Super Bowl. Mostert ran for five touchdowns in that postseason. They ended up losing in the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs.
At times, Mostert has had to prove himself to the organizations he has played for. But he has always tried to leverage that for good and giving back.
“Coming in as an undrafted guy, having to fight his way on the roster year in a year out. But, I'm truly blessed to be in a position that I'm in, and then to give back is something that's been near and dear to me. Both football and in life we just gotta roll with the punches.”
Mike McDaniel, the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, has meant a lot to Raheem in his football career.
“Mike’s just been a great guy and he's been a role model in my career. I was telling everybody (he’s) kind of like a back burner, in the shadows of some head coaches like Sean McVay and you know those coaches that ventured off and had head coaching jobs, and now he's in a position where he has a head coaching job now.”
“You see the type of person he is. He's been an influential person in my career just because of all the things that he's been able to do.”
On Raheem’s Twitter profile he references Psalm 23:4-6, and Rob Maaddi asked Raheem why that is an important verse to him.
“If you don't know the verse, it's ‘Even though I walk through the valley of Shadow of Death, I will fear no evil’, and that's just that's what I've always lived by. I've been in the shadows I've been in the depths.”
“Everything comes to light at the end of the day .”
