Nick Hundley Credits Family and Faith to His Life Stability

Hundley recognizes the role of his dad, but also those who discipled him.

By Faith on the Field Staff, September 8, 2021

Nick Hundley, former professional baseball catcher, has experienced first-hand the ups and downs of having a professional sports career. But in the high times and low times, Hundley has had anchors in his life that have helped him overcome adversity. One of those anchors growing up was his family.

“I remember my dad was gone a lot because of recruiting and coaching, but whenever he was home, he was home. So, I don’t remember him being gone that much because he was so present when we were there which was a huge blessing for me.”

“Whenever he was around. He was with us. It was really fun.”

Hundley had solid role models for parents, but they were particularly foundational when it came to his faith.

“My parents were solid believers and they lived it out. One of my favorite verses in Proverbs says, ‘Blessed are the sons of men who live with integrity’ and I feel like my parents live with integrity and Im reaping, the benefits of that just in my faith.”

“Then I went out on my own, being around some really, really special people that knew Jesus way better than I did and poured into me and discipled me. I’m still being discipled by those guys.”

“That’s kind of my faith journey now. Whatever. I learn, whatever. I get, I want that to go out as fast as it can.”
