Miles Killebrew, All-Pro special teams player for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is known for his leadership both on and off the field. In a recent interview with Rob Maaddi on Faith on the Field, Killebrew shared his thoughts on his team's success, his journey as a leader, and his efforts to give back to the community, particularly through his partnership with Cafe Momentum.
Killebrew spoke about the unique camaraderie in the Steelers' locker room, attributing it to strong veteran leadership and organic relationships between players. He emphasized that when players take the initiative to build bonds, both on and off the field, it strengthens the entire team. “We have small groups happening on our own. It’s not something coaches or staff have to force,” he noted, highlighting the importance of authentic, uncoerced connections in creating a winning culture.

Beyond football, Killebrew’s passion for helping others shines through his involvement with Cafe Momentum, a nonprofit restaurant dedicated to providing culinary training and life skills to justice-involved youth. The organization offers young people an opportunity to rebuild their lives and pursue new career paths. Killebrew was drawn to Cafe Momentum because of its mission to help youth, particularly those impacted by the justice system, realize their potential. “They get to be mentored and learn restaurant skills, and become well-versed in communication. Without Cafe Momentum, they wouldn’t be as polished or prepared,” Killebrew said.
Through his partnership with Cafe Momentum, Killebrew continues to demonstrate his commitment to leadership, mentorship, and making a lasting impact on the next generation.
