Leslie Frazier Knows God is in Control
The Bills Defensive Coordinator can only control so much - the rest is up to God.

Our guest this week, Leslie Frazier, is the defensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills. Frazier was a Super Bowl a defensive back with the 1985 Chicago Bears. He was a head coach for the Vikings about a decade ago.
This week Rob Maaddi spoke in-depth with Frazier about life and football. Rob asked Leslie about being a head coach, and not being a defensive coordinator, and if he believed he’d be getting back to head coaching sooner than he has. Frazier spoke candidly about it.
“Yeah, I'd be lying, right, if I told you I felt like it would take this long to have that opportunity to come along, especially after some of the success, and in particular the most recent success we've had in Buffalo. So it's discouraging in some ways, but you know, you just gotta be under control with what you can control and I'm gonna do the very best I can and help us to have another good defense in 2022 and help the Buffalo Bills win as many games as we can and put us in a position to compete for the World Championship.”
Frazier further explained the importance of focusing on what you can control, and the importance of being in a good mental state.
“Someone inviting me for an interview or offering me a head coaching job, I can't control that. So I've learned that part of it, I just have to stay locked in on what I can control, and otherwise you can really get depressed and get down, and that's not a good place to be.”
Frazier is quick to point out that his faith is critical to having a mindset that honors the Lord.
So when I'm in those moments where, where you know things that happen and I really don't understand, I turn on my faith in those moments and I pray and I trust that that God is in control and that things are going to work out. Maybe not exactly how I thought they should, but I just know that whatever is going on, God is protecting me and he's going to put me in the right situation, the best situation for me.”
“I have to always remember what my purpose is, and my purpose is to bring glory to the name of Jesus Christ.”
