Garrett Wilson is preparing for the biggest platform of his life: the NFL stage.
Wilson played three seasons at Ohio State, was a standout wide receiver, and had 70 catches for 1058 yards and 12 touchdowns. Last year he was the 2nd wide receiver selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, going to the New York Jets at number 10 overall.
Our own Rob Maaddi recently spoke to Garrett about his journey towards playing professional football.
As he prepared for the draft, Wilson was able to visit numerous NFL teams, but also began to realize the immensity of the task of playing professional football, and on some teams, the shoes you potentially would have to fill. Particularly with teams who just traded away big names.
“Obviously those are really great players and you know they're not just easily replaced. But if I was to go to any team though, I'm gonna do what I do. And I'll be able to help the team. So not like I said, I would do a great job of coming in and doing my job.
Wilson is coming into the NFL with great expectations as a rookie. He is hoping to come into the league and immediately make an impact with confidence, similar to other past rookies.
βIt gives you some confidence, you see those guys around the same age, making plays on the biggest level on the highest level.β
Garrett also realizes that God has blessed him greatly in many areas of his life.
βI'm so blessed and that's just the easiest way to put it.β
