Fresh Start

As the new year approaches and we start a new decade - the 2020s, I know a lot of us make a list of new year’s resolutions from things we want to do and want to accomplish to stuff we want to acquire or accumulate.

We often look at a new year like it’s a fresh start, a new beginning. And, it is. But there’s no fresher start or newer beginning than answering God’s call to serve, answering God’s call to ministry.

Sometimes that can be a very difficult thing to do, especially if we are walking away from a successful career we worked very hard to reach. It’s not  always easy to start a new career and focus on what God has called us to do. It takes courage.

College football insider Rachel Baribeau is taking the courageous step to leave her successful career to focus on her calling, a ministry she founded called Changing the Narrative.

Many of us make new year’s resolutions that are centered on improving our lives. Maybe it’s getting in the gym, losing weight, becoming healthier, eating better, finding a better job, making more money, saving more money. A lot of these are personal goals that improve our lives and there’s nothing wrong with self-improvement and career-improvement. But I want to encourage and challenge myself and others to make a resolution this new year that helps other people and let’s make sure we follow through with it.
