For Tim Tebow, Life is All About Integrity

Whether it's an ad or a witnessing opportunity, Tebow says you have to be the real deal.

By Faith on the Field Staff, September 23, 2021

Tim Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner, led the Florida Gators to two national championships. He was a first-round pick by the Denver Broncos. He was nine and seven as a starting quarterback in the NFL, including a playoff win. He is one of the greatest ambassadors for Christ in sports.

But Tim Tebow is a person who has had to make difficult life decisions, but in the end, he had to make decisions guided by his relationship with the Lord and his integrity. Some decisions meant he would reject a lucrative financial offer if it did not match with his beliefs.

“Some of my best offers that I’ve ever gotten was in sodas, and I turned (it) down because I haven’t had a soda since I was 15, and I don’t want to encourage young people to have sodas.”

Tim went on to explain that sometimes opportunities are not the best opportunities because of your beliefs.

“And so, while those are awesome opportunities, it wasn’t right for me because I didn’t believe in it. It wasn’t authentic. And nor did I want to encourage it.”

When it came down to advice Tim would give young athletes that are confronted with important decisions, like sponsorships, Tebow believes wise-counsel is crucial.

“The young people that have the opportunity for these the deals is to really think through it, pray through it and, and get wise counsel to find what really matches with you.”

Tebow not only lives with integrity in his business decisions, he also believes it is important to live with integrity before people you are sharing the gospel with.

“It starts with sharing, but sharing doesn’t necessarily start with the words that we use. I think it starts with the actions in which we show. And then when the words match it, now I think you have an even greater chance of having an impact. And then when we do share with our words, I think also our heart for them needs to come out.”

“I think the goal is to share the truth in love, but we need to make sure that that we have that love part in there.”
