DeVonta Smith Wouldn't Be Here Without God

Smith recognizes without the Lord, he wouldn't be able to do what he does.

By Faith on the Field Staff, December 22, 2021

DeVonta Smith won the Heisman Trophy last year at Alabama, and was drafted 10th overall by the Philadelphia Eagles. He currently leads the team with 50 catches for 701 yards and four touchdowns. He's got a chance to be the first Eagles wide receiver with 1,000 yards receiving since 2014.

Smith is a professional football player and Heisman trophy winner, which means that God has blessed him with some incredible talent. But when he reflects on all that God has done, Smith recognizes it’s all of the Lord.

“I know I wouldn’t be here without God. Without him blessing me with the abilities I have I wouldn’t have got here. Being alone doesn’t get you here. Just being a firm believer in Him and just Him guiding me through. He has helped me get through a lot.”

In our episode “He Blesses What We Bless”, Rob Maaddi continues the conversation with DeVonta and focuses on the other players Smith keeps up with in college and professional football, and the recent sponsorship Smith just signed.
