DeMarcus Ware's Greatest Accomplishment? Being a Fisher of Men.

Despite all the accolades, this nine time Pro-Bowler knows where true greatness lies.

By Faith on the Field Staff, November 15, 2021

DeMarcus Ware was a four-time All-Pro defensive end a nine-time pro bowl, for the Dallas Cowboys and the Denver Broncos.  This year he is eligible for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. When you look at DeMarcus’ list of accomplishments, they are significant: nine-time pro bowler, four-time All-Pro, top-five defensive player of the year.

Yet, when you ask DeMarcus what his greatest accomplishment was, you may be surprised by his answer:

“Being a fisher of men.”

Ware went on to explain the importance of his faith to him.

“If you can believe in something that you can't touch. You can't feel. The only way you going to feel it is if you incorporate it into your life and then becomes something so big.”

“Iron sharpens iron, another man sharpens, another, you get the information from Him, you give that information out and then you build that village of men.”

When DeMarcus is mentoring other men from the Bible, he reminds them that they’re all working off the same pages, that the truths from Scripture apply to them all just the same.

“The words don’t change on the Bible and that's what I tell them. And so if everybody believes and feels that same thing, you won't be wrong.”
