Off the field, Ware is known for his strong Christian faith, which played a significant role in shaping his character and values throughout his career. His dedication to both the game and his faith solidified his status as a respected and admired figure in the NFL.

After 12 seasons in the NFL, he retired in 2017, leaving an indelible mark on the sport. He recently sat down and chatted with Rob Maaddi where they discussed football, faith, and forgiveness. Forgiveness, especially towards his father, is something DeMarcus has had to live out, particularly when he has had to speak publicly about his father.

“It was one of the hardest things because that was my first time saying 'Dad’. But one thing that stuck in my mind was forgiveness, heals. And if you don't, it's going to rot in your body for a long time and become a disease that you can't get rid of.”

The Bible talks about bitterness as being a root that can spring up within you and cause trouble. It’s for this reason that DeMarcus realized he needed to let go of his feelings of animosity towards his father.

“You need to let it go. And if you can let it go, you're going to open up a part of your heart, a part of your spirit that's going to sort of bless you in a way to where people are going to see it.”
