Deion Sanders Tried Everything, But Only Jesus Satisfied

When the pain of life was great, Deion realized Jesus was greater.

Deion Sanders is one of the greatest athletes of all time. He is a Hall of Fame cornerback in the NFL and a very talented center fielder in Major League Baseball. He was a.273 career hitter across nine seasons, Dion is now the head coach at Jackson State,

Deion Sanders, known as ‘Primetime’, has been expressive over the years in many ways. But he is also expressive when it comes to his faith. This week Deion spoke with our own Rob Maaddi.

As he and Rob discussed in this week’s episode, “Wants and Needs”, Deion recently tweeted about where we should be putting our trust. He commented on the fact that man will always fail, but God cannot fail us and never will.

“I had a time in my life where I was suicidal, so I understand having all the things and the trappings of life, but not having peace, I understand it intimately. Truly, that was a problem. It was a dysfunction.”

Sanders, like many people, was at a point in his life where he was trying to find satisfaction in all the things in the world. It turned up empty.

“It was something that I had to fix and I couldn't fix it. I tried to pay it off, it wouldn't go away. I tried to sex it up, it wouldn't go away. I never use drugs or alcohol so I couldn't medicate the pain. But I tried to do various things to see if it would go away. (I would) wake up and I still feel the same.

God brought Deion to a point of surrender, where he realize only Jesus can satisfy us.

“Nothing helped me and delivered me and got me to the next day except for Jesus. I mean that was it when I said I surrendered. I gave my life to the Lord.”

“Things began to change slowly but surely over (a) process.”
