Cameron Arnett: Faith, Film, and Following God's Call
August 10, 2024
In a recent episode of *Faith on the Field*, Rob Maaddi sat down with Cameron Arnett, an actor whose journey through the entertainment industry is nothing short of inspiring. Born in Haiti, Cameron’s career began in Hollywood, where he carved a significant name for himself in the late '80s and '90s. However, his path took an unexpected turn when he was faced with a choice that tested his faith.
Cameron shared with Rob how he walked away from a thriving career in Hollywood after being asked to compromise his Christian values. “I was done,” Cameron recalled. He left the industry, dedicating 20 years to full-time ministry, never expecting to return to acting. But God had other plans. Through a series of divine interventions, Cameron found himself back in the entertainment world, this time on the Christian side of filmmaking. “It's really something that God is doing,” he said, marveling at how his obedience to God’s call has led to over 45 films and several TV series in the last decade.
Cameron’s latest project, The Forge, set to release on August 23rd, is particularly close to his heart. Playing the role of Joshua Moore, a character centered on discipleship, resonates deeply with Cameron’s own mission to live out his faith authentically. “God wants to walk with His people in the cool of the day,” he said, highlighting the film’s message of returning to God’s original intent for His followers.
Throughout the interview, Cameron and Rob discussed the challenges of being outspoken about one’s faith in industries often resistant to Christian values. Rob, familiar with the pushback from his own experiences, found Cameron’s advice encouraging: “Stay the course. Believe God, trust Him,” Cameron urged. His passion for Christ over Career—a principle born from his decision to prioritize faith over fame—shone brightly as he encouraged listeners to remain steadfast in their convictions.
Cameron’s story is a powerful testament to the rewards of unwavering faith, and his work continues to shine as a beacon of light in the often dark world of entertainment.
