Brian Dawkins Trusted God During Mental Health Struggles

Everyone can struggle mentally. But our ultimate hope is not in us, but God.

No one is immune from mental health struggles, especially those who are constantly in the spotlight.

Such was the case for Brian Dawkins, a former professional football star in the NFL.

Dawkins is an alumnus of  Clemson University and was selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 1996 NFL draft. He played for 13 seasons with the Eagles, where he led the team to the playoffs eight times and the NFL championship following the 2004 season.

But early in his playing days, Dawkins was faced with depression and suicidal thoughts.

Recently, at Octorara High School in Atglen, PA, Dawkins was a guest at an event that focused on mental health.  Our own Rob Maaddi served as host and moderator for the event.  Our episode “You Are Worth It” covers segments of that event.

Dawkins established the Brian Dawkins Impact Foundation to help disadvantaged young people, families, and communities while advocating for spiritual, mental, and physical wellness.
