Brandon Coleman is Connected to God

The former wide receiver meditates, but with God as his foundation.

By Faith on the Field Staff, June 2, 2023

Brandon Coleman played three seasons for the Saints, 2015 to 2017, where unfortunately injuries cut his career short. But now Brandon is focused on mental wellness and he's doing great things in that space.

Like many, Brandon had to endure the twists and turns of life and seek to understand why his circumstances took the direction they did. Like when he was coming out of college football and not being drafted in the NFL. God did eventually open a door.

“I think that opportunity, it came at the right time for me, even though the way it was presented wasn't ideal. It was something that I'm glad I had a chance to experience. Obviously I wanted to see my name go across the bottom of the screen and get that phone call. But the fact that it didn't, it taught me so much about myself.”

It was that lack of a phone call from an NFL team that caused growth in Brandon’s life.  Growth that may have otherwise not have happened if that call had come in that moment of time.

“(It taught me) perseverance, resilience. And it just put that chip on my shoulder to work that much harder. And when I got the opportunity to go to training camp with the Saints, I looked at it as the door was cracked open. And I like to say, if you cracked the door open. I'm put my foot in the door and I got a big foot, so I'm like, I'm gonna make some space for me to get into that room.”

Brandon uses meditation to help him focus, but that meditation is based on the God-foundation of his life.

“My spirit is connected to God. I understand that God is love and God is within me. God is within everything, and so that is always, you know, going to be my foundation, my faith-based. And I understand God the Father, God the Son and God the spirit is all.

Everything is connected, everything is 1oneand now I'm just able to connect other principles like yoga, like meditation to be able to deepen my relationship with God.”
