Branded

We live in an age where everyone is thinking about building their “brand.”

It’s not just for celebrities, athletes and entertainers. All of us have a brand and it’s important to make sure our reputation aligns with our mission and purpose.

Those of us who are Christians are also brand ambassadors. We represent Christ. But how are we representing him? Are we more concerned about our image, our popularity, our social status? Are we trying to blend in with the crowd?

It’s not always easy to represent Christ in this world. If we’re more concerned about fitting in with everyone around us, we will have a tough time representing Christ the way we should. If we’re too busy trying to please other people, we can’t please the Lord. If we are worried about persecution, we won’t put the Kingdom ahead of our own needs.

Jesus said in Matthew 10:22: “You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

Paul writes in 2 Timothy 3:12:  “Everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”

Whose brand is more important to us? Our own? Or Christ? Who are we focused on building? There’s nothing wrong with building our brand if we’re using our platform to glorify the Lord.
