Bigger Than You

            The first sentence of the Bible in Genesis says: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

            Think about the magnitude of that fact. God created the heavens and the earth. Then He created day and night, land and sea. He created vegetation, animals and mankind. And everything else. God created it all.  Yet sometimes we treat Him like He’s human, and we make it seem like He has limited powers.

            But if we take a moment to look up at the heavens and look around us at the earth and all the beauty, the immense greatness that surrounds us, and remember that God made everything, we’ll be reminded that He is bigger than us and there is no limit to His power.

            God is bigger than our problems. He’s bigger than our illness. He’s bigger than our debt. He’s bigger than our addiction. He’s bigger than our anxiety. He’s bigger than our past troubles. He’s bigger than our current circumstances. We often look for solutions to our problems everywhere else when instead we should look to Him.

            And God is also bigger than our dreams. He’s bigger than our goals and accomplishments. He’s bigger than our hopes and our desires. God is big enough to surpass whatever we envision for ourselves. And sometimes He will change those dreams if they don’t align with his plans for us.

            When you’re feeling overwhelmed by life’s daily struggles, stop and think there’s nothing God can’t do. Connect with Him. Invite Him into your heart. Don’t wait for the first sign of trouble or when you are desperate for a solution, make it a priority today.
